Thursday, August 13th, 8 am - 2 pm: Students can get school pictures taken at CHS.
Wednesday, August 19th, 5-6 pm: Open House with Schedules available.
Monday, August 24th, 7:25 am: Doors open for the 1st day of school. Dismissal at 2:30 pm.

Five years ago, we started the Back-to-School Kickoff with a simple but important goal: bring our community together and make sure every child begins the school year feeling supported, prepared, and ready to succeed.

We wanted families to have a place to connect. We wanted students to have the supplies and resources they need. And most of all, we wanted every child to walk into the first day of school knowing that an entire community is cheering them on.

This event is about more than bounce houses, music, games, and school supplies. It’s about belonging. It’s about connection. It’s about making sure every student has what they need to start the year with confidence.

When our community comes together for our kids, incredible things happen. For that we are thankful! 🧡🖤

We are excited to welcome Katie Ward as the new Lead Teacher for GSRP at Clio Early Elementary!

A proud Clio graduate, Katie brings a wealth of experience and a deep connection to the Clio community. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with an Early Childhood Endorsement from Saginaw Valley State University. Since 2017, Katie has been an integral part of The Clio Partnership, first serving as a community partner and most recently as the Partnership Liaison, where she supported families and helped strengthen connections throughout the district.

Katie has also been a homeschooling mom for the past 13 years and is celebrating an exciting milestone as her youngest child graduates this year. She and her husband have lived in Montrose for the past 22 years, where they own and operate Ward's Barber Shop. They have two children, and their family is eagerly planning a wedding after their daughter's recent engagement.

When she's not at school, Katie enjoys spending time at home with her three Morkies and has a unique collection of handmade pottery mugs, choosing a different one for her morning coffee each day is one of her favorite rituals.

Welcome to the team Katie Ward Lead Teacher GSRP

We are excited to welcome Joni Main as our new Partnership Liaison at Clio Area School!

A proud Clio graduate, Joni has been an active member of the Clio community for many years. She graduated from Clio High School before earning her cosmetology license from Sharps Academy and her massage therapy license from the Flint School of Therapeutic Massage. She is currently continuing her education through Western Governors University, where she is pursuing dual degrees in Special Education and Elementary Education.

Joni is no stranger to the Clio Partnership Program. As a homeschooling parent for the past eight years, she has built strong relationships with many Partnership families. During the last year, she served as the Partnership Clerk, helping families navigate the homeschool community and supporting their educational journey.

Outside of her work with Clio Area Schools, Joni works part-time at Hairspray Salon and has served on the Clio Center for the Arts Board of Directors for the past three years. She and her husband are the proud parents of five extraordinary children and grandparents to four beautiful grandchildren. In her free time, Joni enjoys spending time with family and exploring creative, art-centered activities.

🚌 Transportation Updates for the 2026-2027 School Year

At Clio Area Schools, the safety of our students is always our top priority. To help provide more consistent, reliable, and efficient bus transportation, several transportation procedures will be in place for the upcoming school year.

Please take a few minutes to review the attached letter for important information regarding:
✅ Primary and secondary transportation addresses
✅ Consistent transportation schedules
✅ Alternate Address Change requests
✅ Processing timelines and important deadlines

Important Reminder: If your child needs a new or updated transportation address, completed forms should be submitted by Monday, August 17 to help ensure transportation is ready for the first day of school.

Dear Parents and Guardians, The Clio Area Schools Transportation Department is implementing several updates to our transportation procedures for the 2026-2027 school year. These changes are designed to improve the safety, consistency, and efficiency of our bus routes. Maintaining consistent transportation schedules allows our drivers to better plan each route, provide more reliable pick-up and drop-off times, and ensure students are transported safely. Frequent last-minute changes to bus assignments can create confusion and delays that impact route efficiency and affect all families. Please review the following transportation guidelines: Each student may have one primary address and one secondary address on file for transportation purposes (two addresses total). Both addresses must be located within the district. If a secondary address is requested, a consistent week-to-week schedule must be established. Daily or last-minute changes between addresses cannot be accommodated. Secondary addresses may include another parent, grandparent, licensed childcare provider, or other regular caregiver. While we will make every effort to accommodate secondary address requests, approval is based on route logistics and the location of the requested stop. If you need to add or update a transportation address, please complete a Transportation Alternate Address Change Form. Forms are available: On the Clio Area Schools website In the Transportation Office By email upon request Please allow five (5) business days for transportation address changes to be processed. To ensure transportation arrangements are in place for the first day of school, completed forms must be received by Monday, August 17, 2026. Forms received after August 17 will be processed within five (5) business days, but may not be reflected in transportation arrangements for the first day of school. Completed forms may be returned to the Transportation Office or emailed to mlewicki@clioschools.org. If you have any questions, please contact the Transportation Department at 810-591-2693. This is a friendly reminder for K-8 Summer School parents. We are looking forward to seeing the students at CES next week. They will reconnect with their teachers and classmates for the next two weeks, Monday through Thursday, 8:30-12:30. Those who participated in the reading and math challenge can turn in their logs to their teachers, and we will honor them at our Celebration Party on Aug 6th.

📱 Know the Apps. Start the Conversation. Protect Our Mustangs. 🧡🖤

The digital world is constantly changing, and many of the apps our children use every day include features that allow them to connect with strangers, share their location, send disappearing messages, or access inappropriate content.

While many of these apps have legitimate uses, it's important for parents to understand the potential risks and have regular conversations with their children about staying safe online.

Take a few minutes to review our "Know the Apps" guide and ask your child:
• What apps are you using?
• Who are you talking to online?
• Do you know how to report or block someone?
• Are your privacy settings turned on?

💡 Remember:
• Keep devices in common areas when possible.
• Review privacy and location settings together.
• Talk about what to do if someone online makes them uncomfortable.
• Remind children to never share personal information, passwords, photos, or their location with someone they don't know.
• Keep the conversation open, supportive, and judgment-free so they'll come to you if something doesn't feel right.

Technology changes quickly, but staying involved is one of the best ways to keep our students safe.
